Amazon Lightsail Instance Monitoring Integration

Amazon Lightsail is the easiest way to get started with AWS. Lightsail provides a simple virtual private server that delivers the compute, storage, and networking capabilities you need to deploy and manage websites, web applications, and databases in the cloud.

With Site24x7's integration, you can now easily monitor your applications deployed with Amazon Lightsail, and keep track of all websites and applications.

Setup and configuration

1. If you haven't already, enable access to your AWS resources between your AWS account and Site24x7's AWS account by either:

  • Creating Site24x7 as an IAM user.
  • Creating a cross-account IAM role. Learn more

2. On the Integrate AWS Account page, check the box next to Lightsail Instance. Learn more

Policy and permissions

The following permissions are required by Site24x7 to discover an Amazon Lightsail and collect configuration information. Learn more

  • "lightsail:Get*" - Retrieves information about the Lightsail instance bundles belonging to this account.

Enhanced Lightsail Monitoring (Lightsail and agent integration)

You can also deploy the agent on your Lightsail instance to gain more granularity into its performance. Once deployed, you can view CPU utilization, Network In and Network Out metrics.

If you want to learn more on how you can enable this Lightsail and agent integration for your Lightsail instances, refer our product documentation. The documentation will also detail about the prerequisites, added benefits, UI features, agent deployment steps, and agent threshold profile configuration.

Polling Frequency

Site24x7 queries AWS to collect Lightsail performance metrics according to the configured poll frequency. The minimum poll interval supported is one minute and the maximum is 24 hours.

IT Automations

You can add automations for the AWS services supported by Site24x7. Log in to Site24x7 and go to Admin > IT Automation Templates (+) > Add Automation Templates. Once automations are added, you can schedule them to be executed one after the other.

You can now start, stop, or reboot your Lightsail instance using Amazon Lightsail instance automations.

Configurations

The configuration details of a Lightsail instance are provided under this tab. Here, you will find the availability zone, name of your instance, state of your instance, RAM size, disk space, etc.

Networking

Here you'll find the IP address and firewall details.
