Monitor SFS Turbo in Huawei Cloud

Site24x7 continuously monitors your SFS Turbo metrics, giving your team real-time visibility into data and metadata I/O throughput, IOPS, client connection counts, storage capacity utilization, and inode consumption across your high-performance file system instances.

Use cases

Throughput protection: Track Data Read, Write, and Total IO Bytes to detect when your SFS Turbo instance approaches its throughput ceiling. Alert on Total IO Bytes to scale up the file system tier before I/O saturation causes application stalls.

Capacity safeguard: The Used Capacity Percent and Used Inode Percent alerts provide warnings for storage exhaustion at both data and metadata levels.

Connection visibility: Client Connections tracks simultaneous NFS mounts accessing the file system. Unexpected spikes or drops can signal runaway mounts, misconfigurations, or connectivity loss — alerts respond before affected workloads lose file system access.

Setup and configuration

SFS Turbo resources are auto-discovered and monitored during the Huawei Cloud integration. To enable monitoring, follow the steps below:

  • Navigate to Cloud > Huawei > Add Huawei Monitor. Follow the steps to add a Huawei Cloud monitor.
  • While adding or editing a Huawei Cloud monitor, select SFS Turbo from the Service/Resource Types drop-down and click Save.
  • Navigate to Cloud > Huawei, select the created Huawei monitor, and click SFS Turbo.

Supported metrics

Throughput

Metric name

Description

Units

Data Read I/O BytesThe rate of data read from the SFS Turbo file system per second.Byte/second
Data Write I/O BytesThe rate of data written to the SFS Turbo file system per second.Byte/second
Total I/O BytesThe combined rate of all read and write data I/O on the file system per second.Byte/second
Metadata I/O BytesThe rate of metadata operations throughput on the SFS Turbo file system per second.Byte/second

IOPS and Connections

Metric name

Description

Units

IOPSThe number of read and write I/O operations processed by the file system per second.Count/second
Client ConnectionsThe number of NFS clients currently connected and accessing the SFS Turbo file system.Count

Capacity and Inodes

Metric name

Description

Units

Used CapacityThe total storage capacity currently consumed on the SFS Turbo file system.Byte
Used Capacity PercentThe percentage of total storage capacity currently consumed on the file system.Percentage
Used InodeThe number of inodes currently in use on the SFS Turbo file system.Count
Used Inode PercentThe percentage of total available inodes currently consumed on the file system.Percentage

Threshold configuration

You can configure thresholds and alerts for all SFS Turbo metrics to proactively detect performance degradation or connection issues.

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability.
  2. Create or edit your Threshold Profile for SFS Turbo.
  3. Assign the profile to the respective monitors to trigger alerts.

IT Automation

Use Site24x7's IT Automation to resolve common issues with SFS Turbo performance:

  1. Go to Admin > IT Automation Templates. Then, click Add Automation Templates.
  2. Create an automation rule by selecting the automation Type (e.g., Server reboot, clear queue).
  3. Map the created rules to the SFS Turbo, for automatic execution during alerts.

Configuration rules

Use Configuration Rules to simplify bulk setup across instances. Automatically assign Threshold Profiles, Notification Profiles, Tags, and Monitor Groups when new monitors are discovered.
