How to Monitor GeminiDB Redis in Huawei Cloud

Site24x7 continuously monitors your GeminiDB Redis metrics, giving your team real-time visibility into CPU and memory consumption, slow query activity, and total key counts.

Catch memory exhaustion, blocked client buildup, and performance regressions early, and keep your Redis instances running reliably, so your applications are never impacted.

Use cases

Memory control: Prevent eviction by tracking used and peak memory, helping scale resources or optimize TTLs before memory limits impact cache stability.

Client flow: Avoid timeouts by monitoring blocked clients, helping identify unfulfilled blocking operations before they affect dependent services.

Query performance: Reduce latency by tracking slow queries, helping detect expensive commands early and prevent system-wide performance slowdowns.

Setup and configuration

GeminiDB Redis resources are auto-discovered and monitored during the Huawei Cloud integration. To enable monitoring, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Cloud > Huawei > Add Huawei Monitor. Follow the steps to add a Huawei Cloud monitor.
  2. While adding or editing a Huawei Cloud monitor, select GeminiDB Redis from the Service/Resource Types drop-down and click Save.
  3. Navigate to Cloud > Huawei, select the created Huawei monitor, and then click GeminiDB Redis to view the performance metrics.

Supported metrics

CPU and memory

Metric name

Units

CPU UsageThe percentage of CPU capacity currently consumed by the GeminiDB Redis instance.Percentage
Memory UsageThe percentage of memory capacity currently consumed by the GeminiDB Redis instance.Percentage
Used MemoryThe total amount of memory currently consumed by the Redis instance.Bytes
Peak Memory UsageThe peak memory consumption recorded since the Redis instance last started.Bytes

Storage

Metric name

Description

Units

Disk UtilizationThe percentage of total disk storage currently consumed by the instance.Percentage
Disk Total SizeThe total disk storage capacity provisioned for the instance.GB
Disk Used SizeThe total disk storage currently consumed by the instance.GB

Network

Metric name

Description

Units

Network Input ThroughputThe rate of data received by the instance over the network per second.Bytes/second

Connections

Metric name

Description

Units

Connected ClientsThe number of client connections currently established to the Redis instance.Count
Blocked ClientsThe number of clients currently blocked waiting on a blocking command.Count
Longest Output ListThe length of the longest output list across all currently connected clients.Count
Biggest Input BufferThe size of the largest input buffer across all currently connected clients.Bytes

Operations

Metric name

Description

Units

Slow Query CountThe number of commands that exceeded the configured slow query threshold.Count
Total KeysThe total number of keys currently stored in the Redis instance.Count

Threshold configuration

You can configure thresholds and alerts for all GeminiDB Redis metrics to detect performance degradation proactively or connection issues.

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability.
  2. Create or edit your Threshold Profile for GeminiDB Redis.
  3. Assign the profile to the respective monitors to trigger alerts.

IT Automation

Use Site24x7's IT Automation to resolve common issues with GeminiDB Redis performance:

  1. Go to Admin >IT Automation Templates. Then, click Add Automation Templates.
  2. Create an automation rule by selecting the automation Type (e.g., Server reboot, clear queue).
  3. Map the created rules to the GeminiDB Redis, for automatic execution during alerts.

Configuration rules

Use Configuration Rules to simplify bulk setup across GeminiDB Redis instances. Automatically assign Threshold Profiles, Notification Profiles, Tags, and Monitor Groups when new monitors are discovered.
