Azure SQL Elastic Pools Monitoring Integration

Azure SQL elastic pools enable you to manage multiple databases on a single server with diverse requirements.

With Site24x7's integration, you can now monitor your SQL elastic pools, configure thresholds, and receive alerts about critical issues.

Setup and configuration

You can add an Azure SQL elastic pool while adding a new monitor, or you can add it to an existing Azure monitor. Follow these steps to add the service.

Supported metrics

The following metrics are collected:

Log IO Percentage The log write percentage Average Percent
Data IO Percentage The physical data read percentage Average Percent
Sessions Percentage The percentage of sessions utilized Average Percent
SQL Server Process Core Percent The maximum CPU usage as a percentage of the SQL database process Maximum Percent
SQL Server Process Memory Percent The maximum memory usage as a percentage of the SQL database process Maximum Percent
Data Max Size The average storage space limit  Average Bytes
Data Space Used Percent The percentage of storage space used Average Percent
Data Space Used The amount of storage space used Average Bytes
Tempdb Data File Size Kilobytes The maximum space used for temporary database data Maximum Count
Tempdb Log File Size Kilobytes The maximum space used for temporary database logs Maximum Count
Tempdb Percent Log Used The maximum percentage of space used for temporary database logs Maximum Percent
Workers Percentage The percentage of concurrent workers (requests) of the SQL elastic pools limit Average Percent
In-Memory OLTP Storage Percent The percentage of in-memory online transaction processing (OLTP) storage Average Percent

Threshold configuration

Global configuration

  1. Go to the Admin section in the left navigation pane.
  2. Select Configuration Profiles from the left pane and choose the Threshold and Availability (+) tab from the drop-down menu. Click Add Threshold Profile from the top-right corner.
  3. Select Azure SQL Elastic Pools as the monitor type. You can now set the threshold values for all the metrics mentioned above.

Monitor-level configuration

  1. Go to Cloud > Azure and select Azure SQL Elastic Pools from the drop-down menu.
  2. Choose a resource for which you would like to set a threshold, then click the hamburger icon Hamburger Icon. Select Edit, which will direct you to the Edit Azure SQL Elastic Pools Monitor page.
  3. You can set the threshold values for the metrics by selecting Threshold and Availability. You can also configure IT Automation at the attribute level.
