Schedule Workflow
Schedule Workflow enables you to automate routine tasks by running a Workflow at predefined times or intervals, independent of monitor alerts or incident triggers. In case, if you want to repeat a task like daily health checks, log rotations, routine maintenance, and periodic clean-ups, you can configure the Workflow to execute at a predefined time without having to wait for an event to occur.
With Schedule Workflow, you can orchestrate a sequence of automations and functions at a set frequency, ensuring consistent execution across your IT estate.
Use cases
- Routine operations: Automate recurring operational tasks so they execute on time without manual intervention.
- Periodic health checks: Ensure daily, weekly, or monthly validations are performed consistently and on time.
- Event-independent automation: Execute critical workflows on a schedule without relying on alert or incident triggers.
How to schedule a Workflow
Prerequisite: To schedule a workflow, at least one Workflow should be created.
Follow the steps below to schedule a Workflow:
- Log in to the Site24x7.
- Navigate to Admin > Automation > Schedule IT Automation.
- In the Schedule IT Automation form, fill-out the following details:
- Display Name: Provide a title to identify the schedule.
- IT Automation Templates: From the list of IT automation templates and workflows, select a pre-built Workflow from the drop-down menu.
- Execution Frequency: Select a frequency at which you want the Workflow to be executed from the options, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly. For Weekly, you need to configure the Start Day. For Monthly, you need to configure Set Recurrence frequency and Start Date.
- Start Time: Enter the initiation time when the schedule should trigger.
- Execution Time-out: Configure the maximum time allowed for the scheduled execution to complete before it times out.
NoteBy default, it is 10 minutes. You can customize the time-out between five and 720 minutes (12 hours), depending on how long your Workflow is expected to run. The configured time-out applies to the entire scheduled Workflow execution, not individual steps. If the total run time exceeds this limit, the schedule will result in a time-out error. These errors are recorded in Workflow Logs and can be used to fine-tune the schedule or optimize execution.
- Under Configuration Profiles section, configure the Tags for which this schedule is applicable.
- Under Alert Settings section, configure the User Alert group , On-Call Schedule , and Notification Profile to send alert notifications related to the current schedule.
- Click Save.
Once added, the scheduled workflow will appear under the Scheduled Automations list, where you can view execution logs and details.
