I've had the same problem. >_<

Would it be enough to add a Server Monitor for that machine, and add 'crond' to the "Proceses" tab?  That would tell you if there is no crond process running.

Hi,

It is possible to use the process monitoring feature in server monitoring to know if the crond process is running or not. The status of the crond process is independent of the execution status (sucess/failure) of the cron jobs.

But, to monitor an individual cron job, the feature is currently in the development stages.

In this feature, to create a cron job monitor, it is necessary to specify a cron job expression to get an unique ping URL. Add this URL to the cron job and get pinged at the start and end of its execution. You can also choose to get alerted when:

  • it executes longer or lesser than the configured time period
  • it does not complete on time
  • it does not start on time

Please find a sample version of the cron job monitor in progress.
