MSSQL Server or MSSQL Insights - Database Status

On several occasions we have had a database unexpectedly go into a recovering state. The instance was still available, and no issues were shown on the monitoring, SQL or Insight.

I was not immediately able to find a way to alert on database state.

Is there any way to alert when a database is in offline, recovering, restoring, etc status? Specifically, if a DB is offline for more than 10 polls, or is recovering for more than 10 polls, as an example.

It would be nice if this were a global setting on the monitor, but the alert could be skipped on specific databases.

Hi Dennis,

We are pleased to let you know that we are currenlty working on the requirement you have raised.

We will be supporting MSSQL individual DB monitoring. This will include individual db state monitoring, performance and even insight for the particular DB and you will be able to configure alerts for the same.

Kindly follow this topic as we will update here once the feature is ready.

Hi Jenzo.

While that sounds great, I certainly hope that is a basic monitor. If it is an advanced monitor, that would be too expensive, and we would not use it. I would find an alternative method.

If I have an instance with 8 databases, that would 2 advanced for the MSSQL Monitor and MSSQL Insight. I would not be purchasing 8 additional advanced monitors just to get alerting on database state.

HI Dennis,

We will be updating on the licensing part once we come up with the release.

However, it can be expected to be similar to other database's (like MySQL etc) individual db licensing. 25 individual db monitors will be free with MSSQL Performance Monitor. After for which, each additional individual db monitor, a basic license would be consumed.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jenzo,

That would seem to be reasonable. Thanks for the clarification!
