+1 i am surprised this isn't already a feature.  

to have one threshold for a warning and then a second threshold for an alert (red status monitor) and only trigger alerts on the second threshold, but still have the status change in the dashboards etc for the first.

I wanted to acknowledge that this is a long pending feature and an important one. We have already it our list. We'll update here once we have a more concrete roadmap for this.
