Dont overwrite DisplayName when AWS Integration is enabled

Hi,

when setting the Display-Name with -dn parameter, it gets overwritten when aws integration is enabled. This makes absolute no sense, because we have various Monitors, which are displayed with the AWS internal Name. Many Servers are build with AutoScalingGroups, so if there is a failure the Instance will be replaced by another. So even if we change the Monitor-Name manually, it will be replaced by the internal Name on next replacement. This behavior makes no sense, since the alarms now only show the internal name. Thats definitely a Show-Stopper for the Site24x7 AWS Integration.

Cheers

Hi ,

Thanks for raising your concern.

Instances that are spawned via autoscaling groups will differ as you told . For this particular reason, in order to differentiate them , we have provided the internal DNS name , provided by AWS for your convenience. If you do not require that feature , you shall disable it in the Amazon Account using Advanced Configuration.

With respect to your request for using display name from agent configuration , it is currently under development and we will keep you updated on the same ( via support ticket you raised too).

Hope this helps.

Hi,

We would like to inform you that "Sync server agent name for integrated monitors" option has been added in Advanced Configuration Settings for the AWS monitor. If toggled yes then server monitor display name , configured in the agent configuration , will be synced with integrated EC2 and used as the display name.

Please Login to Site24x7 > AWS > Click on the Advanced configuration on the right corner of the page > You should be able to find "Sync server agent name for integrated monitors" under general settings.

Kindly be informed, the name synchronization occurs only during the integration process, not during each discovery or data collection. By default this value will be false.
