Ability to monitor database table sizes

Ability for the monitor to be able to get and monitor the size of specific schemas or tables and alert on them

For example if a log table gets over a certain size (say 100MB) then allow an alert that it might need pruning.  Or, if a schema is over xGB, it might need moving to a server with more space

Can you please specify the type/technology of the database you would like to monitor?

I do not know what DB Gary is referring to, but I would like to see this for Microsoft SQL Server.

We do have a SQL server monitoring, which will help you yo monitor the availability and performance of the SQL server. You can find the metrics we capture in a link given below.

In case of specific schemes or tables, you can go for a Site24x7 Plugins, which will help you to monitor the details using a custom script. Please check the link below for more details.

Neither of your suggestions help for MS SQL as the metrics Gary (and myself and I assume others too) is asking for are not included with your standard SQL Server Monitor and you do not have any MS SQL plug-in's and creating a custom plug-in apparently requires that you are running Linux.

So, we're back to Gary's original request, which is essentially asking that you expand the features included with your existing SQL Server Monitoring solution.

sswienton1,

In a week and you will be able to add custom scripts on Windows too.

Write a Plugin for Windows using:
VB script
PowerShell script
Batch script
DLL

Hope that will help.

For SQL Server itself, we will try to add those metrics. We are working on improving it by adding even slow queries.

Any additional SQL Server feature requirements are welcome. Giving us any screenshots from existing tools you use or details about the metrics / WMI counters makes things even more clear for us.

Thanks
Gibu
