Applications (APM Insight)

JVM, .NET, PHP, Ruby on Rails, or Node.js application instance in Site24x7 APM Insight (a.k.a Application Performance Monitoring).

You can choose from any of the 130 Site24x7 locations to monitor your website, APIs, web transactions, and other related monitors. However, a specific monitor can have a maximum of 8 locations (16 for enterprise plans) based on the plan selected. If you need to monitor from all 130 locations, please contact our support for a customized plan.

Each host operating system (virtual or physical) being monitored counts as one server and consumes two basic monitor license.

By default users can monitor upto 10 resources in Process/Services/Resource checks. Additional 25 resources will be charged $1/month.

The first plugin added for a server monitor is free. After that, each plugin monitor is considered as a basic monitor. Each plugin can have up to 25 attributes.

For example, if you have chosen the Starter Plan, you will be able to monitor 10 servers and 1 plugin for each one of these servers. To add more, buy a basic monitor add on which will let you monitor 10 plugins/month.

Upto 500 metrics without threshold checks can be availed for free. Beyond that, 25 metrics (with or without threshold checks) will be considered as one basic monitor.

Example pricing:

  • 500 metrics without threshold checks = free
  • 500 metrics with 100 threshold checks = 4 basic monitors
  • 1000 metrics with 500 threshold checks = 40 basic monitors
  • Each docker host with five containers will consume two basic monitors license. After that, every five containers will consume one basic monitor license.
  • For Kubernetes, the main Kubernetes cluster is considered one basic monitor. To know how the other components are charged, please refer this article.

Network monitoring licensing is purely based on the number of interfaces that are monitored. It is mandatory to have at least one active interface in order to monitor a device. While ten performance counters per device can be monitored for free, every additional ten is counted as one interface.

An application is any web application, and it is counted differently in different languages that the agent supports.

  • In Java, each JVM instance is considered as an application
  • In .NET, each IIS server instance is considered as an application
  • In Ruby on Rails, each rails server instance is considered as an application
  • In PHP, each PHP server instance is considered as an application

RUM licensing is based on page views. Every webpage that is loaded in the browser is considered as a page view, irrespective of the number of resources that are loaded behind. Example, for a single page to load, there are various resource calls for images, CSS, etc, which are not counted in page views. Only the webpage that the user visits is counted as a page view.

You can add unlimited customer accounts in your MSP Plan. By default, nine customer accounts can be added. To add more customer accounts, you must purchase additional customer account add-ons for $9/month (when billed annually) or $10/month. No. You can share the license limit of an MSP account for all your customer accounts. The license will be calculated only in the parent MSP account.

Yes, you can buy multiple instances of same or different add-ons.

  • Website Monitoring: Polling interval starts at 30 seconds for primary location. Secondary location poll frequency is 30 minutes, by default. Learn more about our polling logic.
  • Server Monitoring: Polling interval of 1 minute and 5 minutes, with a heartbeat check done every 1 minute
  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM): Polling interval starts at 1 minute

Site24x7 stores the log data collected for log management for a maximum period of 30 days. If you want to increase the retention period, please contact support@site24x7.com.

Voice Calls or SMS alerts notify you instantly of a downtime. Alert Credits are used for these. Alert Credits will be added to your account month on month. Any unused credit will not be carried over to the next month. Please note that you can receive free email alerts and push notifications on our mobile apps.

Charges for additional alert credits:

  • Approximately $0.3 per Alert Credit for Starter and Free plans.
  • Approximately $0.2 per Alert Credit for all the other plans.
What is hourly billing?

With hourly billing, you pay for monitored resources by the hour depending on how long the resource actively runs.

What are the resource types supported under hourly billing?

The following resource types are supported:

  • Azure Virtual Machine
  • APM Insight Instance
  • DynamoDB Table
  • EC2 Instance
  • Lambda Function
  • SQS Queue
  • GCP VM Instance
  • Server Monitor
How hourly billing works

If enabled, hourly metering for monitored resources will only begin when purchased monitor licenses get consumed.

Scenario 1: Only hourly billable monitors

Let's assume you are monitoring 20 server instances on a subscription pack with a license limit of 50 monitors. When ten more instances are added during auto scaling, five of those resources will consume the remaining licenses, and the other five will come under hourly pricing. (Each server instance consumes 2 basic monitors)

Scenario 2: Both non-hourly and hourly billable monitors

Let's assume your license limit is 100 monitors and you are already monitoring non-hourly billable monitors like websites and APIs totaling to 90 monitors. When you add 10 server instances, 5 of them will consume the remaining monitor licenses(each server consumes 2 basic monitors) and 5 will become part of hourly billing. Now when you add 10 more websites, 5 server instances which were part of subscription pack licensing will be moved to hourly pricing and their licenses will now be consumed by the newly added websites.
