How do I record a new web app transaction with the Recorder tool?

  1. Start a new recording by clicking New button. Enter the URL of the application you wish to monitor.

  2. Record the sequence by browsing through the steps of the application.

  3. After browsing through the required steps in your application click Preview and Save. A dialog box will prompt you to enter your Site24x7 login credentials and this will bring up Preview Transaction screen.
  4. In Preview Transaction, screen you can do following actions:

  5. Follow the wizard to configure Primary and Secondary locations for the transaction under Select Locations dialog.

  6. Proceed to Save Transaction section and configure the Transaction Name and Poll interval.

  7. Click Save to save the transaction to your Site24x7 account.

I have an already saved transaction in my account. What should I do to modify the saved transaction?

Modifying a saved transaction involves almost similar steps as recording a new transaction. Follow the below steps to edit or modify a saved transaction.

  1. After invoking the Recorder, click the Re-record button in the top right corner of the screen.

  2. Re-Record the sequence by browsing through the steps of the transaction and click Preview & Save.

  3. Enter your login credentials in the dialogue box to proceed to Preview Transaction window.

  4. In Preview Transaction window click Next to proceed to Update Transaction screen.

  5. In the Update Transaction, select a transaction to update from the pull down menu and click Fetch Steps. This will list all the existing URLs in the selected transaction. Click Next to proceed.

  6. This will enable a side-by-side comparison of your old URLs and newly captured URLs in the transaction.

  7. Click Update to overwrite the the existing steps in the transaction with the newly recorded sequence.
